About Kanika Chadda Gupta

I’m Kanika Chadda Gupta

I’m a media mom of multiples! As a former television anchor for CNN, I’m a born storyteller and currently host the award winning podcast, That’s Total Mom Sense, where I interview industry experts on parenting, lifestyle, entrepreneurship and wellness.

As a journalist and thought leader, I love white-boarding, asking thought-provoking questions, and connecting with people from all walks of life.

This space allows me to chronicle my life and share the lessons I am learning along the way. Being a mother of three has taught me that I always have a choice. I could complain and commiserate or rise to the challenge, which is why my show is intended to be positive and help you show up as your best self every day.

I was born in Bombay, India and have lived in DC, Boston, Miami, New York and now, dare I say it, I’m a Jersey girl.

Storytelling has been the motif in my life. After earning my masters in broadcast journalism, I worked as a TV Anchor for CNN India where I covered the gamut of events from the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks to Slumdog Millionaire at the Oscars and have interviewed celebrities including Sushmita Sen, Ranbir Kapoor, and Priyanka Chopra. I went on to work as an Entertainment Correspondent for Sahara One TV and Director of Programming for Zee TV Americas.

A few years later, I moved to New York where I reconnected with an acquaintance who soon became my husband (read about our love story here). During this time, I launched my company, Kronologie Agency, a digital marketing firm which helps small businesses tell their brand story.

I take pride in my South Asian cultural roots and am passing traditions on to my kids and community. I read and write Hindi (Devanagari script) fluently, I am a trained Hindustani vocalist, and have been learning Kuchipudi Indian Classical dance since the age of five. I trained at Kuchipudi Kalanidhi under Smt. Anuradha Nehru, disciple of the esteemed Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam. I was a member of the Sa Dance Company (led by ClassPass Founder Payal Kadakia Pujji) and performed with the troupe at Alvin Ailey and the Museum of Art and Design. I continue to performing Kuchipudi alongside my daughter with Kulture Kool and The Asia Society.

my family is my foundation.

There’s certainly a demarcation — before children and after children (BC and AC, if you will), and what I’ve discovered is that though it’s a juggling act, harmony is attainable. I am embracing my many roles while not losing sight of my own purpose. I hope you find my interviews, interior design & organization hacks, and candid thoughts on parenting enlightening. Some days are easy-peasy and others are exhausting, but you are not in this alone. We’ve got this!
