Saumya Dave is a writer, psychiatrist, and mental health advocate. She’s the author of two novels, Well-Behaved Indian Women and What a Happy Family. Well-Behaved Indian Women was selected as the “summer’s fix” by the New York Times Book Review and optioned for a television series by CBS Studios. What a Happy Family was the July GoodHousekeeping Magazine book club pick. Her novels have also been featured in Marie Claire, Elle, PopSugar, and others.
Saumya is a frequent contributor to NBC News, where she discusses a variety of mental health topics. Her essays, articles, and poetry have been in The New York Times, ABC News, and Refinery 29. She is a practicing psychiatrist, co-founder of the mental health nonprofit thisisforHER, and an Adjunct Professor at Mount Sinai. She lives in New York City with her husband Sameer and son Sahil.
