We are in a mental health crisis and the pandemic has been the straw that broke the camel’s back.
According to Mental Health America, nearly 1 in 5 American adults have a mental health condition each year.
46 percent of Americans will meet the criteria for a diagnosable mental health condition sometime in their life, and half of those people will develop conditions by the age of 14.
Today, I’m joined by a woman who understands the severity of the lack of mental health awareness and aims to change that for kids and adults. She is Mandy Teefey, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Wondermind, CEO of Kicked to the Curb Productions, and mother to Selena Gomez.
Drunk with passion and fueled by drive, Mandy is using Wondermind to change the narrative on how mental health is portrayed much like the acclaimed Netflix Series, Thirteen Reasons Why. Mandy is a Patron of Women in Film and is a member of the Producers Guild of America. Mandy’s philanthropic endeavors include Alliance for Children’s Rights, mentoring youth and Mental Health rights. She is a national organ donation reform advocate and has been working with bipartisan Congressional leaders including Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley, Katie Porter and Cori Bush to address urgent racial justice issues to help more patients receive life saving transplants. During her down time, she enjoys scavenger hunts, spending time with her family, going glamping and being an arm couch detective!
