094 Meghan Hurley — Providing Ready-Made Healthy Meals Around the Country 1920 1080 Chase Jennings

On average, families have to prepare 21 meals a week, and when you factor in kids’ age groups, picky eaters, cuisine preferences, it can be really overwhelming for parents.

During the pandemic, prodege.com surveyed 502 parents with children under 18. They found that 52% are spending more on groceries and 41% have stocked up on meal staples that’s easy enough for kids to prepare themselves.

Which brings me to today’s episode where I’ll be interviewing the Head of Marketing of Farmer’s Fridge.

Farmer’s Fridge has set out to remove the roadblocks to eating wholesome, delicious food. Their automated smart Fridges put chef-curated meals and snacks in the customers hands, in seconds. And to ensure we’re getting the very best, the company is dedicated to packing jars full of quality ingredients and delivering meals fresh to Fridges.

Somehow, a Fridge full of tasty finds just seems to be there when you’re craving it most. Even better? Unpurchased food is regularly donated to community members in need. They say their jars may be little, but we hope all the goodness we put in them gives you a big smile.

With over 400 automated smart Fridges across Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Indianapolis, Farmer’s Fridge provides fresh, chef curated, delicious and accessible food. Farmer’s Fridge made a HUGE pivot when the pandemic hit and now offers home delivery. Behind that giant shift and all things marketing at Farmer’s Fridge, is super mom, Meghan Hurley.

Meghan Hurley leads a multi-functional team and drives the company’s narrative through a rapidly evolving business model. She previously worked as a senior marketing manager at Trunk Club, leading brand strategy.

Earlier in her career, Meghan worked in marketing across a number of food and retail
companies. She has a diverse food category background including retail, CPG and wholesale with a specific focus on premium brands, including Whole Foods Market. Within those roles Meghan developed extensive knowledge in brand strategy, market expansion, and product development and innovation.

090: Nichole Healy — Photo Books Made Easy for the Paparazzi Parent

090: Nichole Healy — Photo Books Made Easy for the Paparazzi Parent 1920 1080 Chase Jennings

When it comes to photos of your kids. What are you having most trouble with?

Organization – You have so many digital photos from newborn phase on up and you don’t know how to compartmentalize it all?

Time – You would love to be the scrapbooking mom but just don’t have the time or energy to do it. Life in a pandemic is all consuming!

Lack of Creativity – You tried apps online but you don’t have the creativity to create a photo book from scratch on your own.

We are going to answer all your questions around preserving photos and precious memories today!

Nichole Healy’s background starts with dance, which she pursued even at the college level. She studied dance at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She always had a desire to build a business, as she hails from an entrepreneurial family and also wanted to create a business that was BOTH meaningful and provided the kind of freedom that allowed her to adventure with her own family!

To that end, Nichole began her entrepreneurial endeavor when she was feeling tremendous mom-guilt over not having photo books done for her family. She thought there had to be an easier way to stay on top of getting her memories archived into photo books. She quickly discovered other parents were also frustrated that their memories were lost to the cloud too.

Her business meets this frustration head on. Memory My Way was founded in 2017 when Nichole started taking on clients one-on-one. Along the way she became a Certified Photo Organizer and today, she has gathered everything she knows about organizing, curating, and getting a plan in place for success into a membership experience. Inside, each member can take control of their photo clutter (if they feel unorganized) and/or put a system in place to get photo books done every year by learning from her self-paced courses and workshops. Each member is paired with a professional designer who custom creates photo books for them – saving tons of precious time and ensuring their books get done. Her mission is to help families rescue their memories from the cloud and remember their best adventures gathered around photo books, instead of another screen!

Nichole is also working on moving the membership to a web and mobile app that will only make all of this easier and more streamlined going forward. She describes her app as “the cloud with a heart” because it will be more concerned with getting memories into our hands instead of just keeping them locked away in the cloud.

Nichole is married to her husband of almost 11 years, who is a pilot, and they have two boys ages 7 and 9. They live near Atlanta, GA in the Northeast Georgia Mountains.

082: Ashi Jelinek — Hey Kids, Go Drink Your Vitamins! 1920 1080 Chase Jennings

Wouldn’t it be cool if kids could drink their vitamins and enjoy them? Well, they can. You may have seen this founder’s products on the shelves at Walmart, CVS, or on Amazon or Thrive Market — Kids Luv. They are changing the game for kids’ drink boxes everywhere!

Ashi Jelinek is a Los Angeles-based mother of three who found the market lacked innovative, health conscious children’s products. Before becoming a stay-at-home parent, Ashi started her career in theatre in New York and attained her undergraduate degree in theater/communications at California Institute of the Arts. In launching The Luving Company in 2018, Ashi brings her personal experiences as a mother along with her passion for health and wellness. Focusing on promoting a healthy lifestyle to her kids, Ashi set out to create a new brand for both her own and other families alike. Ashi developed KidsLuv in 2018 upon realizing all kids’ drinks were laden with sugar and little health benefits, and combined with pediatric dentists’ recommendation to avoid gummy vitamins, KidsLuv was born. She intentionally developed the product to meet almost any need: it’s Certified Non-GMO, Vegan, Kosher, Gluten-free, and packaged in an 8 oz. recyclable, resealable, straw-free drink carton.

081: Emily Groden — Who Wants Waffles? 1920 1080 Chase Jennings

As many of us are homeschooling our kids or managing their hybrid school schedules along with our own work day, we’re all scrambling in the mornings. Breakfast is undoubtedly the most important meal of the day as our kiddos are breaking their fast of 12 hours of sleep beforehand. So we want to give them foods that are satiating and nourishing.

Today, we’re talking to a female and mom founder, Emily Groden, who’s helping make breakfast a little easier and a lot healthier. Her company is called Evergreen and they specialize in waffles.

Evergreen, features miniature waffles made with 100% whole wheat, no refined sugar or dairy, and flavored only with fruits, vegetables, nuts or spices. Varieties include banana peanut butter, mixed berry almond, matcha chocolate chip, zucchini and carrot, and pumpkin and pecan. The products are available to purchase online and in Whole Foods stores throughout the Midwest.

As a working mom, Emily Groden needed a quick and easy breakfast for her toddler, but was not willing to sacrifice quality, nutrition, or taste for convenience. Launched in early March 2020, Evergreen frozen waffles are made with 100 percent whole wheat flour and flavored only by real fruits, vegetables, nuts and spices – without refined sugar, dairy, or preservatives.

While Emily originally created Evergreen for her own family, she is now on a mission to clean up the frozen waffle category. Carried in more than 45 Whole Foods Market locations across the Midwest and counting, Evergreen is rapidly growing a loyal base of health-conscious consumers who appreciate the clean ingredients, nutritional benefits, and delicious flavors.

From day one, Emily has focused on embedding philanthropy and social responsibility into her brand’s DNA. Evergreen currently makes monthly contributions to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and ongoing food donations to the Common Pantry in Lakeview, a nonprofit dedicated to combating hunger and food insecurity in Chicago neighborhoods.

Prior to founding Evergreen, Emily served as General Counsel for The Alinea Group, owner of the only 3-Michelin Star restaurant in Chicago, and Tock, an industry-shifting reservation platform. Before her pivot into the hospitality industry, Emily practiced law at Kirkland & Ellis as a corporate associate focused on mergers and acquisitions and worked for Analysis Group, an economic consulting firm in Boston.
A lifelong athlete with a passion for food, Emily was a Division I swimmer in college, is an Ironman finisher and Boston Marathon qualifier, and a recipient of the Level I and Level II Awards in Wines through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.

Emily graduated cum laude from Yale College and Harvard Law School. She currently lives in Chicago with her husband and daughter Riley, Evergreen’s number one fan.
